This is Ned Coletti staring into your soul.- The Yankees won't pick up Damaso Marte's $6M option. Good idea, but it begs the question: why did the Pirates want to pay him $6M?
- Buchholz seems to have some of his swagger back. Because the Red Sox really need everything to work out in their favor.
- Griffey could return to the Mariners. I'm not sure whether or not it's a good thing, but for anyone thinking he'll retire, someone will give him a job. He did hit 30 HR in '07, and that's all GM's need to know.
- The Tigers are going to the independent leagues to find bullpen help. Well, at least we know they're trying, or at least trying to make it look that way.
- Mark Ellis' teammates support the A's decision to re-sign him. Can you imagine if they said the opposite?
- The Rangers are looking to deal a catcher for some pitching. Why is this news?
- The Phillies have issues to deal with this offseason. One question, though. If the Phillies have additional money from the World Series, why can't they afford to keep Burrell? If they can't afford to keep Burrell, how will they be able to afford Manny or any of the other free-agents?
- Nationals fans aren't happy. The owners suck. The team sucks. I'm glad we have Thomas Boswell to remind us.
- Dale Sveum is back in a Brewer's uniform, this time as the hitting coach. Doesn't this seem to be a dumb move by Macha and the Brewers? Why put the man who led you to the playoffs on the bench so that as soon as things go wrong, fans will want him to take over?
- While everyone else looks at the Reds with optimism, John Erardi tears them apart ... and he's writing for them.
- A throw-in could eventually be a star for the Padres. Always read the fine print folks.
