Aaron Cook to be Traded?

It's a question that has been posed recently. Most people don't know much about him, so here are some facts:

Age: 29

Comparables: Carlos Silva and Joe Blanton

2008: 8-3 with a 3.17 ERA, 91 IP (7 IP/start), 44 K, 24 BB, 86 H, 8 HR

Splits: Home: 3-1, 2.88 ERA
Away: 5-2, 3.78 ERA

Contract: 2009-2011, with 2012 option (09- $8.75 mil, 10- $9 mil, 11- 9.25 mil, 12- $11 mil)
* if traded, then his salaries go up by $1 mil per season

Obviously, by looking at the numbers, Cook looks pretty solid. He had an injury near the end of last season, but the season before, he threw over 200 innings. He's a sinker-baller, so he gives up some hits and even home runs when it doesn't get down, but he also get ground balls and double plays. For a starter comparable to him, he doesn't make too much money (especially when compared to Carlos Silva, who is of the same mold). Now, you must also realize that he pitches often at Coors Field, so getting away from there would probably help his ERA (maybe not because Coors is actually a great place for sinker-ballers due to its large dimensions), but at least, it shouldn't increase too much. If you want him, he won't come cheap, and it'll likely cost you one maybe two young pitchers and another player. Also, if he goes on the market, you will be competing with a lot of teams (Braves, Phillies, Mets, Astros, Yankees, Brewers, Cardinals,
Tigers just to give a quick list of who might be interested), so the price will go up. If you want an ace, he's not your man, but if you want a dependable No. 2, he could very well fit into you rotation quite nicely. Honestly, I hope the Braves try to get him.

Aaron Cook for Kelly Johnson, Cole Rohrbough, Tommy Hanson?
